Your Development

National Graduate Development Scheme (NGDS)
The majority of teams are quite small, giving you the opportunity to get plenty of exposure to a range of projects and gain early responsibility. Once you are professionally qualified the options at G&T open up to you professionally and around the world

We expect all our graduates to gain the internationally recognised Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Our highly successful National Graduate Development Scheme (NGDS) offers you the chance to do this in the minimum time (two years) with our pass rates consistently above the national average.

Together with the rest of your Year Group you will attend G&T’s NGDS. This comprises of three two-day training sessions a year of lectures, seminars and workshops as well as informal monthly discussion groups all designed to prepare for both the APC and life as a chartered professional

What's Involved
  • The NGDS includes lectures, seminars, workshops and study groups run in block learning sessions through the two years
  • All our graduates from around the country attend these sessions together, providing a good support network and collegiate atmosphere
  • G&T work with some of the top universities in the industry to provide up to date, relevant materials
  • Our annual 'Focus Weekend' is designed to prepare candidates who will be taking their APC.

Post Qualification / On-Going Training & Development
Your development does not end once you are qualified. At G&T we firmly believe that our people are our best asset and we aim to keep them engaged from day one. We offer you opportunities to develop professionally and personally continually throughout your career.

From day one we will put in place a Personal Development plan for you. This includes a performance management and review system and ongoing Training Needs Analysis, which will be carried out between you and your Partner.

We operate a calendar of training courses throughout the year (personal, management, technical, business and financial) and emphasise the importance of Life Long Learning. We are a learning organisation and as such encourage individuals to take responsibility for their own development, with our support and guidance. We believe that with your Partner, you are the best-placed person to determine your development needs and we will do our best to help you achieve your ambitions in any way we can.

We are happy to discuss any thoughts you might have on sponsorship for courses and we have sponsored courses relevant to the needs of the business in a variety of areas.

Career Structure and Development We want you to develop at G&T and will give you all the support you need to realise your career aspirations and we understand that this means different things to different people.

Career development discussions will take place with your partner before you take the APC to discuss your career ambitions and how they fit in with the business needs. This may be within a group at the London Office, in a regional office, or you may wish to further your experience in Europe or worldwide.

Post Qualification Development Programme (PQDP)
The Post Qualification Development Programme (PQDP) is a new incentive aimed at assisting individuals who have recently become fully qualified to progress though the change in their role within the firm and also through their career as a whole. There is an emphasis, within the course, on tailoring the contents to suit your individual needs and personal requirements.

Opportunity and variety are everyday elements of our work.
