You don't need to wait until graduation to start your journey with G&T. If you're interested in a career in cost management but would like to gain some knowledge that will prepare you for the working world with experience gained on real projects, you might wish to apply for one of our 3 month summer placements or 12 month industrial placements.
By undertaking a placement with us you will be able to relate theoretical concepts learnt through study to the real world of work. Not only will you learn valuable business skills but you will be better prepared for the next leg of your studies too.
During your placement with G&T you will gain a range of business and technical skills, as well as getting a first-hand insight into the construction and property industry. By getting involved in real projects and building up valuable experience in the workplace you will put yourself in a stronger position for finding employment once you graduate.
We often welcome back summer and industrial placements who return to us for a graduate position once their studies are complete.
Summer placements are a great opportunity for those considering a career in surveying to get some experience and an all-round appreciation for the industry and profession. The summer placements typically last for a period of two to three months. Our placements offer you the chance to get involved with a team of qualified surveyors or project managers, sharing in their work and projects and gaining real life experience.
We aim to ensure that on completion of your summer placement we have provided you with the necessary information to decide if a career as a Cost Manager or Project Manager is for you. We manage this through a proven successful structured programme which aims to maximise your time with us and gives you a chance to step outside of the theory of your textbooks.
If you are studying a sandwich degree on a relevant course, you can apply to join us for your placement year. The placement typically lasts for 12 months.
The experience and responsibility you get will be the same as if you had joined us as a graduate and you will be working on the same kind of projects as your graduate colleagues. You will also join Year 1 of our Chartership Programme. Becoming a student member of the RICS, you will be able to start your diary and log book and this year can be recorded to count towards your final APC exam.
By joining us for this year, you will not only be able to apply what you have learnt in the classroom, but develop key interpersonal skills around communication, planning and organising, problem solving and teamwork.
We will keep in touch with you during your final year and we hope to be able to offer you full-time employment once you graduate. Where possible, we may even provide sponsorship when you return to university. If you return to us upon graduation, you will be eligible to sit the APC only one year after joining as a graduate.
We offer a range of different placements to suit the different stages of your education and career progression
