Gardiner & Theobald has announced the retirement of Managing Partner, Simon Jones, after 41 years and the appointment of Adam Glover who takes over the role from 1st January 2019.
Outgoing Managing Partner, Simon Jones, retires from the firm on 31st December 2018 after a long and successful career spanning four decades.
“I would like to thank all the clients, partners and employees that I have worked with over many years. I have enjoyed my time at G&T immensely and remain very grateful to those who supported me along the way.”
“I wish Adam every success in his new role. I have every confidence in his abilities to lead the firm effectively and to preserve the legacy of Gardiner & Theobald.
Simon joined the firm in 1977 and became a partner in 1989. During his years of service he was a catalyst for change within G&T by diversifying the service offering from its core of Cost Management into Project Management and later Construction Management and other specialist consultancy areas. In 2005 he took up the role of Managing Partner and focussed on growing and modernising the firm, championing career progression for all employees and developing a comprehensive employee benefits package. Since taking on the role of Managing Partner the firm has expanded to over 1000 employees across the UK and US. Simon successfully led the firm through the recession, maintaining its independence and partnership culture at a time when many competitors changed ownership. Over the last five years Simon has overseen a period of unprecedented growth in the firm’s history.
“I wish Adam every success in his new role. Adam and I have worked together for many years as part of the management board and finance group. I have every confidence in his abilities to lead the firm effectively and to preserve the legacy of Gardiner & Theobald as one of the most successful independent consultancies in the property and construction sector.”
Reflecting on Simon’s retirement, Adam commented,
“I would like to thank Simon for his dedication and outstanding contribution to the firm throughout his entire working career and for his exceptional leadership over the last 13 years as Managing Partner. Having had the privilege of working alongside Simon for the majority of my own career I know that he is justly proud of G&T and its people and his legacy should be judged on the strength of the business that he leaves behind.”
Adam joined G&T in 1989 qualifying as a Quantity Surveyor in 1992. He subsequently moved into the Project Management division and developed particular expertise in managing large, complex projects. His experience included a five-year secondment to a major US Investment Bank and a period seconded to a UK developer.
“Having joined G&T as a graduate trainee in 1989, I am humbled to be given the opportunity to lead the firm through the next stage of its evolution and development."
Adam became a partner of G&T in 1997 and led the Project Management division from 2005 to 2018. Under his leadership the division enjoyed a period of sustained and substantial growth enabling G&T to establish itself as a market leader in Project Management as well as Cost Management services.
In 2012 Adam joined G&T’s Finance Group taking on a more strategic role within the firm. He led the development and implementation of the firm’s strategy to consolidate its geographical footprint and refocus the business on its core markets in the UK and US.
“Having joined G&T as a graduate trainee in 1989, I am humbled to be given the opportunity to lead the firm through the next stage of its evolution and development. We have a great culture at G&T, some of the most talented experts in the industry and a partnership structure that has enabled us to deliver exceptional service levels to our clients and fantastic careers for our people. I look forward to building on that legacy during my time as Managing Partner.”
