"If you're considering a career as a QS or a PM, I would say do it! Construction is a really exciting industry to be a part of!"

Billy started as a work experience placement and is now a Chartered Quantity Surveyor.

"Having completed the apprenticeship scheme here at G&T, I truly believe it is the best route to kick-start your career. Attending university one day a week allowed me to learn the foundations of a quantity surveyor's role and gain the qualifications required. Working in the industry gave me the opportunity to put theory into practice, learn from colleagues and gain vital experience that I could apply to my studies. G&T's apprenticeship is very well structured and offers all the support you need to succeed.

During my time here I've worked on some amazing projects such as Battersea Power Station, Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, The Factory Manchester and many more. Being part of so many iconic projects makes the job very interesting. It is rewarding to see a project develop from a basic sketch to a completed, functioning building.

It's hard to describe a typical day due to the variety of work. One day I could be on site carrying out a valuation, the next I could be in a design team meeting, cost planning or even carrying out tender analysis. There is so much depth to a quantity surveyor's role it's difficult to have a 'typical day'.

Everyone at G&T is very approachable and the social events and sports teams offer a great opportunity to wind down and have a laugh with colleagues."
