Atlantic Park

From brownfield site to logistics powerhouse

Delivering a sustainable, Freeport-ready logistics hub in the North-West

Client

The Royal London Mutual Insurance Society

Location

Liverpool

Size

790,000 sq ft

Challenge

Atlantic Park is a major employment-led logistics development in Liverpool, aiming to deliver up to 1,100 jobs upon completion. The project sits within the city’s newly designated Freeport and requires the phased demolition of existing offices and industrial units across a former brownfield site. Key challenges include ensuring compliance with Freeport regulatory requirements, minimising embodied and operational carbon, and incorporating sustainable energy infrastructure such as solar PV and EV charging points.

Solution

G&T is providing Cost Management, Project Management, Employer’s Agent, Contract Administration, Principal Designer & CDM Consultancy services along with wider programme controls. We are overseeing the three-phase construction—from demolition through to delivery of four new industrial units (phase 2) and a further three (phase 3)—ensuring alignment with BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC ‘A’ targets. By integrating solar PV systems and EV charge points at design and procurement stages, we are helping to minimise the scheme’s carbon footprint and ensure compliance with Freeport sustainability obligations.

Outcome

Construction is underway and progressing in line with programme, budget and environmental standards. When complete, Atlantic Park will deliver up to 790,000 sq ft of modern logistics units, powered by low-carbon infrastructure, ready to support the North-West’s Freeport operations. G&T’s rigorous programme oversight and sustainability-focused delivery continue to underpin the creation of a high-quality, employment-focused development that aligns with both client ambitions and emerging environmental policy.
