Challenge
The redevelopment of Sandstone Court sought to transform a long-vacant building into supported living accommodation for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. The existing structure was outdated and required significant refurbishment to meet modern accessibility standards, care requirements, and energy efficiency targets. Delivering this level of transformation within tight budgetary and programme constraints, while ensuring quality and compliance, posed a significant challenge.
Solution
G&T provided Cost Management and Employer’s Agent services, supporting the client from early feasibility through to project handover. Our team played a key role in defining the brief, managing procurement, and ensuring cost certainty throughout. We closely monitored progress and quality on site, enabling informed decision-making at every stage. G&T’s proactive approach helped to balance budget constraints with the delivery of a high-quality, resident-focused design that met all regulatory and stakeholder requirements.
Outcome
The completed Sandstone Court now provides a safe, inclusive and supportive environment, with high-quality accommodation designed to promote independent living. The scheme includes self-contained apartments, shared communal areas and on-site support facilities, offering a meaningful alternative to institutional care. Thanks to G&T’s oversight, the project was delivered on time, within budget, and to a standard that exceeds expectations—delivering lasting social value and a positive impact for the local community.
