Battersea Power Station is at the heart of one of central London’s largest, most eagerly anticipated new developments.
The £9bn project will see the creation of a vibrant, mixed-use destination offering a community of homes, shops, restaurants, offices, culture and leisure venues, as well as 19 acres of public space, all serviced by an extension to the London Underground Northern Line.
Phase Two, the Power Station itself, is a London landmark and one of the largest single brick buildings in Europe with four iconic chimneys that touch the sky. Sir Giles Gilbert Scott’s design elevated what was a functional building to an Art Deco masterpiece.
The project comprises the refurbishment and transformation of the Grade II* Listed building, which will house over 100 shops, restaurants and cafes, a 2,000-person capacity events venue, a unique chimney lift experience offering 360 degree panoramic views of London’s skyline from a height of over 100m, new office space, 500,000 sq. ft of which will be home to Apple’s new London campus, and 253 new residential apartments. The building will open to the public in 2021.
The first phase of the development, Circus West Village is already open, which welcomed over two million visitors in the last year and is home for over 1,000 people.
