Challenge
Phase 2 focused on the transformation of the Grade II* Listed Power Station itself—including the iconic chimneys—into a vibrant mixed-use destination. Developers aimed to deliver 254 luxury apartments, 633,000 sq ft of offices, 445,000 sq ft of retail, leisure and entertainment, along with hotels and event spaces, all while preserving historic fabric and operating around live urban infrastructure.
Solution
G&T has provided Cost Management services since 2010, guiding the project through early-stage cost planning, procurement and budget control. We managed complex value engineering across multiple sectors—residential, commercial, leisure and hospitality—ensuring the restoration of architectural heritage and integration of new-build structures remained affordable. We facilitated close coordination with both the client and design team, enabling over 3,000 people on site with efficient phasing, crane logistics and preservation works on Grade II* elements.
Outcome
Now complete, Phase 2 sees Battersea Power Station reborn as a thriving riverside quarter—home to 100+ shops, cafés and restaurants, premium offices, luxury apartments and public attractions like the 109‑storey chimney lift with panoramic city views. The project supports approximately 26,000 jobs and has won prestigious awards, including a RIBA National Award in 2024. G&T’s long-term cost stewardship helped deliver a respectful restoration and commercially successful destination that revitalises one of London’s most iconic landmarks.
