Challenge
National Grid Grain LNG, already operating Europe's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, aimed to further expand its capacity to meet increasing energy demands. The Capacity 2025 (CAP25) project involved constructing a new 190,000m³ LNG storage tank, installing associated processing equipment, refurbishing existing facilities, and enhancing boil-off gas compression systems. The challenge lay in executing these complex expansion works without disrupting ongoing operations at the terminal.
Solution
G&T was appointed to provide Project Management and Contract Administration services for the CAP25 project. G&T's role encompassed overseeing contract execution, managing project timelines, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. By closely coordinating with National Grid Grain LNG and contractors, G&T facilitated seamless integration of new infrastructure while maintaining uninterrupted terminal operations.
Outcome
The successful implementation of the CAP25 project has significantly increased the terminal's LNG storage and processing capabilities, strengthening the UK's energy infrastructure. G&T's expertise ensured that the expansion was completed efficiently, safely, and in line with project objectives, thereby enhancing National Grid Grain LNG's capacity to meet future energy demands.
