Challenge
Ellesmere Port Market has long served as a central hub for local trade and social interaction. However, over time, the building and facilities became outdated and less suited to the needs of today’s traders and visitors. The challenge was to modernise the market to boost footfall, enhance the customer experience, and support small businesses—while retaining its role as a key anchor in the wider regeneration of Ellesmere Port town centre.
Solution
G&T is providing Cost Management and Project Management services for the phased refurbishment of Ellesmere Port Market, commissioned by Cheshire West and Chester Council. Working alongside the design team, we are helping to deliver a comprehensive internal reconfiguration, including the creation of a new central dining area, improved food and drink units, better accessibility, and flexible community spaces. Throughout, we are ensuring that design aspirations and community outcomes are balanced with robust cost control and effective programme delivery.
Outcome
The project is currently under construction and represents a significant investment in the local area as part of the council’s broader regeneration strategy. Once complete, the upgraded market will provide a modern, inclusive and vibrant destination for shopping, eating and socialising. G&T’s continued involvement is helping to ensure the project progresses efficiently, delivering value for money while creating a high-quality public asset that meets the long-term needs of the community.
