Lord's - Allen Stand

The original Allen Stand at Lord’s Cricket Ground, constructed in the 1930s, no longer met current structural and safety standards. In addition to significant physical deterioration, the stand fell short of modern expectations for accessibility, capacity, and inclusivity. The new stand needs to be completed in May 2027 ahead of the World Test Championship and Ashes Test but a critical challenge was the requirement for the new stand’s external seating to be operational for the 2026 cricket season during mid-construction, placing significant pressure on sequencing and programme delivery within a highly constrained and high-profile environment.

G&T is providing Cost Management and Project Management services to support the successful redevelopment of the Allen Stand. Our team advised on consultant team composition, procurement strategy and contractor selection to balance programme certainty, budget control and quality outcomes. We managed the complex phasing and sequencing required to enable successful use of the new spectator seating for the 2026 season, protecting Members’ ability to watch cricket while safeguarding key matchday revenue streams, and are now supporting the restart of Phase 2 works to complete the stand envelope, roof and internal fit-out ahead of the 2027 Ashes and World Test Championship season. The new stand design enhances capacity and accessibility, delivering improved spectator amenities while aligning with the wider Lord’s masterplan.

The successful delivery of the first phase enabled the new spectator seating to be brought into use for the interim 2026 cricket season, maintaining Members’ matchday experience and protecting important ticketing and hospitality revenues. On completion, the Allen Stand will provide improved sightlines, greater inclusivity, enhanced amenities and increased capacity. The redevelopment will also secure the long-term future of the stand, supporting Lord’s continued position as a world-class sporting venue and the Home of Cricket. G&T’s strategic input is helping ensure the successful phased delivery of the remaining works ahead of the 2027 Ashes and World Test Championship season.
