Challenge

The Museum of London is undertaking a major relocation to the historic Smithfield Market, repurposing a series of Grade II Listed buildings into a world-class cultural destination. The challenge lies in transforming the Victorian fabric of the market into a modern museum environment, while preserving its architectural heritage and integrating complex new infrastructure to support a high volume of visitors and exhibitions.

Solution

G&T is providing Cost Management services to support the delivery of this highly complex and ambitious redevelopment. Working closely with the client team, designers, and heritage consultants, we are managing costs across every stage of the project lifecycle. This includes balancing the financial constraints of a publicly funded scheme with the need to deliver a modern, flexible and sustainable museum that respects and enhances the historic fabric of Smithfield.

Outcome

The revitalised site will provide an expanded and reimagined home for the Museum of London, creating immersive galleries, community spaces, and enhanced visitor facilities. G&T’s cost management expertise is helping to ensure that project ambitions are realised within budget, enabling the museum to tell London’s stories in a setting that is as historically rich as the collections it will house.
