Challenge

Société Générale's Commercial Agency team required a new 280,000 sq ft headquarters in London, with a strategic brief to support 1,200 traders and deliver high-spec dining and collaboration areas. The challenge lay in identifying the right location—choosing between West End and Canary Wharf options—while ensuring the selected space could be rapidly transformed into a sophisticated banking environment with bespoke trading floors, restaurant, winter garden and agile workspace.

Solution

G&T provided comprehensive Project Management services, managing the search, due diligence and delivery phases. We led technical assessments across shortlisted sites, supported the negotiation of Heads of Terms and selected Canary Wharf as the turnkey solution. From lease application to phased fit-out, our team coordinated complex procurement, stakeholder engagement and programme planning to ensure each requirement—from trading floor layout to fine dining facilities—was delivered on schedule.

Outcome

Completed in 2019, the project delivered a state-of-the-art HQ featuring dynamic trading floors, a “market place” restaurant, winter garden and agile work zones, all tailored to Société Générale's operational and cultural requirements. G&T’s close collaboration and bespoke management ensured the facility opened on time and on budget, providing a flagship office that supports the bank’s frontline teams and client engagement goals.
