Challenge

The Student Loans Company (SLC) relocated to a new purpose-built 75,000 sq ft HQ at 10 Clyde Place in Glasgow’s Buchanan Wharf, with five floors of space including a separate government tenant. The challenge was to deliver a flexible, high-performance workspace—featuring open-plan offices, breakout areas, collaboration pods, terraces, a living wall, and event space—while maintaining sustainability, reusing base-build services where possible, and ensuring seamless delivery across multiple floors .

Solution

G&T provided Cost Management and Project Management services throughout the fit-out . We led cost planning, procurement, and financial monitoring, ensuring value and budget control. We worked closely with the design and delivery teams to retain base-build services, minimise waste, and specify low-energy materials. We also orchestrated stakeholder collaboration, aligning the fit-out with the SLC’s flexible workplace strategy across five interconnected floors.

Outcome

The fit-out has delivered a sophisticated, sustainable workplace tailored to SLC’s needs, enhancing staff engagement and operational efficiency. By reusing base-build services and selecting energy-efficient materials, the project reduces operational carbon and running costs. G&T’s commercial oversight ensured the programme remained on time and within budget—transforming the Clyde-side building into a modern, collaborative HQ that supports SLC’s services and staff wellbeing.
