Challenge
Wood Wharf Phase 3 represented a pivotal stage in the eastward expansion of Canary Wharf, aiming to introduce a substantial residential component to a traditionally commercial district. The project encompassed the development of over 1,300 build-to-rent homes across multiple high-rise towers and mid-rise buildings, necessitating meticulous planning to integrate residential amenities, affordable housing, and commercial spaces within a dense urban environment. Ensuring seamless connectivity with existing infrastructure and maintaining the area's aesthetic coherence posed additional challenges.

The development featured a mix of residential buildings, including 40, 50, 70 and 80 Charter Street, designed by renowned architects such as KPF, GRID Architects and Darling Associates. The scheme incorporated over 295 affordable homes, 26,300 square feet of commercial space and public amenities like green spaces and waterfront access, contributing to a vibrant and inclusive community.
Outcome
Upon completion, Wood Wharf Phase 3 significantly enhanced Canary Wharf's residential offering, introducing a diverse mix of housing options and community facilities.
