Challenge
AFC Bournemouth aimed to consolidate its first team, development squad, academy, and pre-training operations into a single, state-of-the-art facility. The challenge was to transform the 57-acre former Canford Magna golf club into a comprehensive training complex that meets Premier League standards, supports player development, and enhances operational efficiency. The project required careful planning to integrate various facilities, including pitches, medical centres, and administrative spaces, while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing club activities.
Solution
G&T provided Contract Administration, Cost Management and Principal Designer & CDM Consultancy services for the phased development of the new training facility. The complex includes full-size and junior pitches, specialist goalkeeping areas, indoor and outdoor artificial playing surfaces, cutting-edge medical, fitness, sports science, and rehabilitation centres, as well as administrative offices and a press conference media suite. Our expertise ensured the project's successful delivery, aligning with the club's vision for a unified training environment.
Outcome
The completed facility has brought all of AFC Bournemouth’s footballing operations together for the first time, creating an environment that supports player development, team cohesion and high-performance training. Players and staff now benefit from top-tier amenities designed around recovery, analysis and preparation. For the club, the campus is a tangible step in building long-term resilience and competitiveness. G&T’s input helped turn that strategic ambition into a practical, deliverable result.
