Bankside Yards West
Located on the banks of the River Thames and in the heart of Bankside’s Cultural Quarter, Bankside Yards (West) consists of three buildings set across a constrained central London site.
Prior to new build construction taking place, a demolition contract was placed with McGee which completed in 2018. McGee then oversaw a UKPN EHV cable diversion from the basement of the former Ludgate House to the north of the proposed basement and ducted, via a pipejack, beneath Blackfriars Road to a joint bay in Upper Ground (works delivered by Kier). A further contract was placed with Telent to relocate a Network Rail signalling mast on the Blackfriars viaduct to allow column placement through the viaduct for the proposed commercial office (Arbor).
The West phase of the masterplan has already delivered 250,000 sq ft of prime office (Arbor), which oversails the Network Rail viaduct, whilst a 48-storey residential building (Opus) delivering 249 premium residences is currently under construction. The final building on West will be a 16-storey, 80,000 sq ft commercial space overlooking the River Thames with a construction start date to be confirmed.
Bankside Yards is set to become the UK’s first major fossil-fuel free mixed-use development in operation.
