Challenge

IPG Mediabrands aimed to consolidate its multiple agencies, encompassing over 1,000 creatives across eight distinct brands, into a single headquarters at 16 Old Bailey, London. The challenge was to design a workspace that respected and embodied the individuality, character, culture, and spirit of each brand while providing a seamless, holistic experience that unified them under the Mediabrands umbrella. Additionally, the space needed to be progressive and flexible to adapt to rapidly changing business and cultural needs.

Solution

G&T provided Cost and Project Management services, overseeing the strategic planning and execution of the consolidation. Collaborating closely with MCM Architecture, we facilitated the design and delivery of brand-specific neighbourhoods and collaborative spaces, ensuring each agency had a unique arrival experience through individual 'portals' or front doors. To promote inter-agency collaboration, destination spaces such as co-working areas and immersive client experience floors were integrated, featuring external terraces and panoramic views of London. Sustainable principles and recycled materials were employed throughout the design to align with Mediabrands' global ESG vision.

Outcome

The completed headquarters at 16 Old Bailey now showcases a workspace centred around sharing space and creating experiences. Teams operate on neighbourhood floors with a diverse range of settings, enhancing flexibility and collaboration. Key destination points attract employees to the building, supporting efficiency and well-being, highlighted by unique wellness spaces and a shared roof terrace. G&T's comprehensive management ensured the project was delivered on time and within budget, resulting in a headquarters that fosters creativity, collaboration, and a strong sense of community among the distinct brands.
