Challenge
The Monk Bridge development sought to revitalise a derelict industrial site on the edge of Leeds city centre, encompassing a Grade II listed Victorian railway viaduct. The challenge was to deliver a high-density residential scheme that honoured the site's heritage while integrating modern amenities and fostering community engagement.
Solution
G&T provided Cost Management and Employer's Agent services for the project, which comprised 665 apartments across five blocks ranging from 13 to 23 storeys. The scheme included extensive amenity spaces, such as private dining rooms, residents' lounges and a gym. The 300-metre viaduct was transformed into a linear park, linking the development to Leeds city centre and offering communal areas, a sports court and potential commercial units within the arches.
Outcome
The completed Monk Bridge development successfully blends historical preservation with contemporary urban living. G&T's expertise ensured the project was delivered within budget, contributing to the regeneration of the area and providing residents with high-quality homes and amenities in a thoughtfully integrated community.
