Challenge
Penguin Random House aimed to consolidate its operations from multiple locations into a single, cohesive headquarters to enhance collaboration and efficiency. The challenge was to identify and secure a suitable location that could accommodate the diverse needs of the publishing house while reflecting its brand identity and fostering a creative work environment. Additionally, the project faced the unprecedented challenge of being completed during the COVID-19 pandemic, requiring adaptive strategies to ensure timely delivery.
Solution
G&T was appointed in 2016 to lead the site search and selection process, conducting extensive technical due diligence on potential buildings. This thorough evaluation resulted in Penguin Random House signing a lease for Ballymore's first commercial development at One Embassy Gardens. We provided comprehensive Project and Cost Management services, collaborating closely with partners Perkins+Will, Hilson Moran, and MiX consultancy during the design and procurement phases. The fit-out commenced in November 2019, with us overseeing the project to ensure alignment with the client's vision and requirements.
Outcome
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the project achieved Practical Completion, marking it as one of the first of its kind at G&T to do so during this period. This success was attributed to the concerted efforts of both the client and the project team to adapt and push the project over the line. The new headquarters at One Embassy Gardens now provides Penguin Random House with a state-of-the-art workspace that fosters collaboration, creativity, and efficiency, effectively uniting their operations under one roof.
