Challenge

The Beaumont, a Grade II Listed hotel in London's Mayfair, embarked on a phased refurbishment and expansion to enhance its luxury offerings while preserving its 1920s Art Deco heritage. The project involved the demolition of an adjacent three-storey building, retaining its historic façade, and constructing a new six-storey extension to accommodate 29 additional guest rooms, two function rooms, and expanded front-of-house amenities on the ground floor. Additionally, the existing hotel's entrance hall, reception, lounge, restaurant, bar, spa, and gym required meticulous refurbishment to maintain the building's unique external character and reflect the local vernacular.

Solution

G&T provided Cost Management, Project Management and Principal Designer & CDM Consultancy services, overseeing the project's execution to ensure alignment with the hotel's standards and regulatory requirements. Collaborating closely with ReardonSmith Architects, who led the design, and The Office of Thierry Despont, responsible for interior design, we facilitated the development of the new six-storey building at 2 Providence Court. This extension was thoughtfully designed around an internal landscaped courtyard, seamlessly blending with the style and décor of the existing structure. Our oversight ensured that the construction process was planned and executed, allowing the hotel to remain fully operational, with all guest services maintained throughout the project.

Outcome

The successful completion of The Beaumont's refurbishment and extension has elevated the hotel's status as a premier luxury destination in Mayfair. The addition of 29 guest rooms and expanded amenities has increased the hotel's capacity and appeal, while the preservation of its 1920s interior design and external character has maintained its unique charm. G&T's comprehensive approach ensured that the development adhered to high standards of quality and functionality, aligning with the vision of transforming The Beaumont into a premier luxury destination.
