G&T provided comprehensive Project and Cost Management services for the renovation of the historic Breuer Building in New York, transforming this iconic landmark into the global headquarters for Sotheby’s.
This highly specialised project required a careful balance between modern performance expectations and the preservation of the building’s distinctive architectural character.
The renovation was executed with meticulous attention to detail - mirroring Sotheby’s own approach to art - ensuring that every intervention respected the integrity of the original design while upgrading the facility to meet contemporary life safety and operational standards. Critical building systems were modernised throughout, enhancing both safety and functionality without compromising the historic fabric of the structure.
To further support Sotheby’s dynamic global operations, the project also includes the addition of a new freight elevator designed to accommodate the secure and efficient movement of fine art throughout the building.
