The project involves the redevelopment of St James shopping centre and the former Scottish Office to create a new retail-led mixed-use landmark development, reaffirming Edinburgh as one of the major retail destinations in the UK.
The new 1,700,000 sq ft mixed-use development includes 80 new brands and an enticing mix of restaurants and bars, 152 new homes, a 244 bedroom 5* hotel, multi-screen cinema and 1,600 car parking spaces as well as the restoration of the historic St Andrews House and 27-31 James Craig Walk. The project creates a unified public realm space in the St James Quarter linking together St Andrews House, Cathedral Square and James Craig Walk.
The historic surroundings of the development have required that the team delivers a building of exceptional quality, providing a vibrant new destination in the heart of Edinburgh’s old town.
