Dulwich Prep & Senior School

The project needed to be delivered within a live school environment, where the continuity of teaching, learning and examinations was critical. Disruptive activities had to be carefully managed to minimise impact on pupils, staff and the wider school community, while enabling the school to expand and modernise its facilities. The scheme also required a sensitive approach to the existing estate, retaining the character of the campus while creating flexible, future-facing spaces to support the introduction of senior school provision.

G&T provided Cost Management, Project Management, Funder Monitoring and CDM Advisor services, working closely with the school and contractors across all phases of the scheme. A coordinated delivery plan was developed to manage disruptive works, including the careful scheduling of noisy activities, accommodating examination periods and maximising use of school holidays. The project team prioritised the re-use and adaptation of existing buildings, helping to deliver a sustainable solution that balanced modern educational requirements with the school’s established character and operational needs.

The scheme has created an inspiring and more flexible learning environment, supporting the school’s expansion into senior provision while maintaining day-to-day continuity throughout delivery. Student areas have been modernised and enhanced, with new and improved facilities including cycling provision and adaptable workout spaces. Through careful planning, proactive coordination and a focus on minimising disruption, G&T helped the school achieve a considered transformation that supports wellbeing, sustainability and long-term educational growth.
