Air Source Heat Pump at university's Avery Hill campus

Avery Hill Decarbonisation Project

As part of the University's estate, Avery Hill campus is replacing its 'end of life' gas heating network with an air source heat pump networked system, thereby decarbonising the campus a further 60%.

A new energy centre building and three associated small plantrooms will provide sustainable energy to five teaching buildings on the campus, supporting the university's net zero ambitions and supporting its Net Zero Carbon by 2030 journey.

The site for the energy centre location is part of its existing campus space with the emphasis on using land that has been developed in the past and therefore minimising any potential impact on the openness of the Metropolitan Open Land (MOL).
