Work has started on The Brunel Building at one of the last sites in the Paddington Basin on the banks of the Grand Union Canal.
The site is at the heart of the Paddington Basin regeneration area and, when the Crossrail interchange joins the existing mainline and underground stations in 2018, will be one of the best connected locations in London.
G&T is providing full Project Management and Employer’s Agent services to developer Derwent London for The Brunel Building – a £116m 240,000 sq ft office scheme.
Designed by Fletcher Priest, the 17 storey building has an innovative external diagrid structure enabling column free floorplates for modern, flexible office accommodation. There will be two large roof terraces on the upper floors and a new public realm will be created on the waterside.
The Brunel Building is one of a number of new schemes at North Wharf Road that will complete the regeneration of this historic waterfront as Paddington re-establishes itself as the gateway to the city.
