View ServiceMajor Milestones for Bath Quays South despite COVID-19 Challenges
Over the last two weeks, Bath Quays South achieved a number of major project milestones despite the challenges of the current COVID-19 crisis. This included the delivery from Belgium of the four bridge superstructure sections, the completion of piling to the north bank and the topping-out of the office development.
Located in Bath city centre, the bridge will be the first new crossing point over the River Avon in Bath for 100 years and will provide a new route for pedestrians and cyclists connecting the Bath North and South Quays developments. The South side of the river will include a new Grade A office building comprising 45,000 sq ft over five open plan floors, together with new flood defence systems and improved public realm spaces.

Despite the construction industry facing significant challenges during COVID-19, the site continues to operate under strict social distancing rules. May has seen the project team celebrate the final concrete pour on the roof of the office block and the four sections of the 60m bridge have arrived via articulated vehicles from Eeklo in Belgium to Bath’s town centre.
