Challenge
Forestry and Land Scotland aimed to enhance Cuningar Loop woodland park with a dedicated space for community gatherings, business activities, and nature-focused events. The vision was to create a sustainable and flexible facility that blended seamlessly into the natural surroundings while providing essential infrastructure for local groups. Delivering a project of this scale within a woodland setting required careful cost control and contract management to balance design aspirations with budgetary constraints.
Solution
G&T provided Cost Management services, ensuring the 288m² Bothy & Tùr were delivered efficiently under the NEC4 contract framework. By closely monitoring project costs, G&T helped maintain financial discipline while allowing the design team to achieve their vision of a forest-inspired hub. The bothy now serves as a multifunctional space for community activities, arts events, and educational programs, while the tùr provides an accessible viewing point that connects visitors with the surrounding landscape.
Outcome
The completed Bothy & Tùr offer a permanent base for community groups and businesses, reinforcing Cuningar Loop as a key destination for social and environmental engagement. Visitors can now enjoy a purpose-built space for events, learning, and connection, while the viewing tower provides a new perspective on the woodland and Glasgow’s skyline. G&T’s strategic cost management ensured the project remained on budget, delivering a high-quality community asset that will serve future generations.
