Challenge
The refurbishment of the London Stock Exchange headquarters at Paternoster Square requires the transformation of a high-profile City landmark while maintaining the operational resilience expected of a global financial institution. The project must support the market opening ceremony, auditorium and flagship workplace functions, while responding to a tight programme and the challenges of working within an existing building. It also has to meet ambitious environmental, wellbeing and digital performance targets, including BREEAM, WELL, RESET Air, WiredScore, SmartScore, NABERS UK, UK NZCBS and Circular Economy objectives.
Solution
G&T is providing Cost Management services, helping the client establish procurement routes that support earlier cost certainty and protect the target programme through to completion. Our cost advice is helping to test design decisions against budget, quality, programme and sustainability objectives, while supporting the refurbishment strategy for the existing building. This includes helping the client understand the commercial implications of enhanced workplace, auditorium and event spaces, as well as the measures required to meet the project’s embodied carbon and operational performance ambitions.
Outcome
The project will create a modern flagship headquarters for the London Stock Exchange, strengthening the building’s role as a workplace, event venue and symbolic home for the market opening ceremony. It will deliver a more resilient, sustainable and high-performing environment that supports long-term operational needs and future occupier expectations. G&T’s Cost Management input is helping to give the client greater confidence in procurement, budget control and value decisions, enabling the project team to balance commercial certainty with quality, sustainability and programme commitments.
