Challenge
Silverthorne Lane, a 4.2-hectare former industrial site in Bristol's Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone, presented a unique opportunity for regeneration. The challenge was to transform this derelict area into a mixed-use development comprising residential units, educational facilities, commercial spaces, and public amenities. The complexity of the project was heightened by the need to integrate new structures with existing heritage buildings, address environmental concerns such as flood risks, and ensure the development met the diverse needs of the community.
Solution
G&T is providing Cost Management services for the residential and office components of the Silverthorne Lane regeneration scheme. Working closely with Atlas Hive Silverthorne Ltd and other stakeholders, we are overseeing the financial aspects of constructing new homes, flexible office spaces, and commercial units, including restaurants, bars, and studio offices. The development also features the creation of new pedestrian and cycle links, enhancing connectivity and opening up access to the Feeder Canal. Our role ensures that the project remains financially viable while delivering high-quality, sustainable spaces that respect the site's historical context.
Outcome
The ongoing Silverthorne Lane project is set to revitalise a neglected area of Bristol, transforming it into a dynamic canal-side community. The development will provide much-needed housing, modern office spaces, and improved public realms, contributing to the city's economic growth and urban renewal. G&T's cost management expertise is instrumental in balancing the project's ambitious vision with practical financial oversight, ensuring the successful delivery of a development that honours Bristol's industrial heritage while embracing its future.
