Challenege
Sotheby's, located on New Bond Street, London, embarked on a significant renovation to modernise its main reception and front-of-house facilities. The challenge was to transform a series of interconnected 18th-century buildings into a cohesive, state-of-the-art space that reflects Sotheby's prestigious brand while improving functionality and client experience. This project was part of a broader global renovation programme, including galleries in New York and Paris
Solution
G&T provided Cost Management and Construction & Property Tax Advice services for the refurbishment. The works included reorienting the reception area, upgrading the central customer staircase, creating a new gallery, and refurbishing two existing galleries. Additionally, the public restaurant, kitchen facilities, and customer toilets were modernised. Our expertise ensured that the project was delivered efficiently, balancing the preservation of historical elements with the integration of modern amenities.
Outcome
The revitalised reception and front-of-house areas now offer clients the largest, most high-tech, and versatile exhibition spaces, enhancing Sotheby's position as a leading global auction house. The successful completion of this project marked the culmination of a decade-long renovation effort, significantly improving client experience and operational functionality.
