Challenge
As part of Manchester Airports Group’s strategy to meet future passenger demand, London Stansted is undergoing its most significant transformation since it was originally built in the early 1990s. The challenge lies in delivering a large-scale infrastructure upgrade within a live, operational airport environment—enhancing capacity, modernising passenger facilities, and future-proofing the terminal and airfield while ensuring safety, continuity of operations, and value for money.
Solution
G&T is providing Cost Estimating, Cost Management, Commercial Management and Risk Management services across the transformation programme. Our early involvement is helping shape the design and phasing strategy by ensuring commercial viability and risk resilience. Working collaboratively with stakeholders, we are managing cost risk profiles across complex packages—including a three-bay terminal extension, new airfield stands, baggage systems, and passenger processing upgrades—while maintaining tight financial control and real-time reporting to support key investment decisions.
Outcome
The programme will deliver a step-change in capacity and customer experience at London Stansted, strengthening its position as a key UK gateway. G&T’s commercial leadership is playing a central role in ensuring that the programme remains financially sustainable and risk-informed while meeting long-term strategic and operational goals. Our work is helping unlock a new chapter in the airport’s evolution, tailored to future growth and resilience.
