The Spa@KSTH
Located in a Grade II Listed building and forming part of a wider hotel development, this former night club has been transformed into a luxury spa and gym for hotel guests as well as local residents.
The basement spa includes a steam room, sauna, treatment rooms, experience showers, ice feature and relaxation area while the ground floor gym provides state-of-the-art equipment and a protein bar.
Working within the old, Listed building provided plenty of structural challenges. A significant portion of the ground floor slab had to be removed and replaced with a reinforced concrete slab and metal deck in order to accommodate the required loads for the gym equipment while substantial waterproofing works were also carried out to the basement prior to the fit-out of the spa as well as structural repairs to several areas.
