Challenge

Bury Market, renowned as one of the UK's favourite markets, faced the challenge of modernising its facilities to meet contemporary standards while preserving its rich heritage. The goal was to enhance the market's infrastructure, improve accessibility, and introduce new community spaces, all without disrupting the daily operations that are vital to traders and the local economy.

Solution

G&T is providing Cost Management, Project Management and Employer's Agent services for the regeneration project. The scheme includes the installation of new canopy roofs over the outdoor market, reconfiguration of existing spaces to create a higher-quality environment and improvements to access and servicing to aid circulation. A key feature is the development of the Flexi Hall, a versatile venue designed to host cultural, leisure and community events, enhancing the market's role as a social hub.

Outcome

The ongoing transformation is set to secure Bury Market's status as a vibrant centre for commerce and community engagement. The enhancements aim to attract new visitors, support local businesses, and provide flexible spaces for events and gatherings. G&T's involvement ensures that the project balances innovation with tradition, delivering a revitalised market that honours its legacy while embracing the future.
