Challenge
Caledonia Park, formerly known as Gretna Gateway Outlet Village, required a comprehensive modernisation to revitalise its appeal and improve the overall shopping experience. The existing infrastructure, including outdated glass canopies and façades, needed upgrading to meet contemporary retail standards and enhance the site's aesthetic and functional qualities. Additionally, the project aimed to improve public realm areas to create a more inviting environment for visitors.
Solution
G&T provided Cost Management and Project Management services for the redevelopment of Caledonia Park. The project was executed in two phases, involving the replacement of existing glass canopies with new metal-sheeted ones and over-cladding façades with timber to modernise the appearance. The existing Rotunda was demolished to make way for new retail units and associated paving areas were developed in three distinct zones. Further enhancements to the public realm, including improved paving and lighting, were implemented to create an attractive and modern streetscape for shoppers.
Outcome
The redevelopment of Caledonia Park successfully transformed the outlet village into a contemporary retail destination, offering an enhanced shopping experience. The strategic upgrades to the infrastructure and public spaces have revitalised the site's appeal, contributing to increased footfall and customer satisfaction. G&T's expertise in cost and project management ensured the project's successful delivery, aligning with the client's vision for a modernised retail environment.
