Challenge
Convoys Wharf, situated in Deptford, London, is a historically significant 16.6-hectare site that once housed Henry VIII’s Royal Dockyard. The challenge was to transform this derelict brownfield site, which had been inaccessible to the public for over 500 years, into a vibrant mixed-use development. The redevelopment needed to respect and preserve the site's rich maritime heritage while delivering modern residential, commercial and community spaces.
Solution
G&T provided Cost Management services for Phase 1 of the Convoys Wharf redevelopment. This phase encompasses approximately 1.5 million square feet of development, including private and affordable homes, shops, cafés, restaurants, public open spaces, roadways, infrastructure landscaping and car parking. Our role involved meticulous cost planning and control to ensure the project's financial viability while maintaining high-quality standards and honouring the site's historical context.
Outcome
The successful delivery of Phase 1 has set the foundation for the broader regeneration of Convoys Wharf, aiming to provide up to 3,500 new homes, extensive public spaces and community facilities. G&T's expertise in cost management has been instrumental in balancing the project's ambitious scope with budgetary constraints, contributing to the creation of a new, dynamic riverside neighbourhood that integrates seamlessly with Deptford's existing urban fabric.
