2025

Challenge

Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust aimed to consolidate acute services, including women's and children's care, from Epsom and St Helier Hospitals into a single, modern facility. The challenge was to design a 538-bed acute hospital adjacent to the Royal Marsden Hospital to meet the evolving healthcare delivery demands. The project required meticulous planning to ensure integration with existing medical institutions and alignment with the Government's New Hospital Programme.

Solution

G&T provided Cost Management and Project Management services, leading an integrated team that included  architecture, health planning, and town planning. We guided the project through the Outline Business Case submission, ensuring collaboration with partners such as the Royal Marsden Hospital and St George's University Hospital. The hospital's design incorporates Modern Methods of Construction and aims for net-zero carbon emissions through all-electric services, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Outcome

The New Specialist Emergency Care Hospital will provide state-of-the-art facilities for acute, women's, and children's services. Its proximity to leading cancer research and treatment centres will foster collaboration and enhance patient care. G&T's strategic oversight has been instrumental in advancing the project towards its goal of delivering a modern, sustainable healthcare environment that meets the needs of the community.
