G&T Volunteers Help Refresh Age UK Garden Space

Making a positive difference in the communities around us is an important part of G&T’s ESG strategy. Through volunteering and community engagement, our people give their time, skills and expertise to support charities, local initiatives and good causes, helping to create a meaningful and lasting impact beyond the projects we deliver.

Putting this commitment into practice, members of G&T’s Marketing team recently spent a volunteering day at Age UK’s Healthy Living & Learning Centre in Lewisham and Southwark, supporting the charity and the work it does within the local community.

The day started off strong with half of the volunteers tidying up the garden space by picking up litter, weeding, and watering the flowerbeds as well as restoring a wooden arch. The rest took part in a dance and fitness class with some of the centre’s members.

The volunteers were then treated to lunch provided by the resident Age UK cook, ahead of a challenging quiz and six competitive rounds of bingo played with visitors.

We are grateful to have had the chance to work with a charity like Age UK, which aims to positively impact older people by giving them a community to turn to for support.

Marketing team assistant, Chloe Dain, said: “It was a great opportunity to be able to speak to those involved in the Age UK community who were all so welcoming, making it even more gratifying to help improve their environment so they can enjoy spending more time outside. I found it so rewarding to see the smiles on the visitor’s faces and it was ultimately a lovely day for the entire G&T team.”
