Challenge
Saltend Chemical Park in Hull is home to a 370-acre cluster of leading chemical and renewable energy businesses. When MDF manufacturer Tricoya identified the site as the location for its new wood pellet plant, it required a clear development plot with access to essential infrastructure. BP, as site owner and operator, needed to demolish and remediate an area occupied by an old plant, while also ensuring the new facility could be efficiently connected to existing utilities and services.
Solution
G&T was appointed to provide commercial support throughout the project, acting as commercial manager to the client’s project manager. We led the procurement process for key packages and managed all aspects of cost control. By closely collaborating with BP and the wider project team, we ensured the demolition, remediation and enabling works were procured effectively and delivered within agreed budget parameters.
Outcome
With G&T’s commercial leadership, BP successfully delivered a cleared and serviced plot ready for construction, enabling Tricoya to progress with its new manufacturing facility. The project helped support growth within the park’s sustainable materials cluster and demonstrated the value of early-stage cost and procurement expertise in preparing complex industrial sites for new development.
