Challenge
Bury Council embarked on an ambitious plan to revitalise Radcliffe town centre by developing the Radcliffe Civic Hub & Market. The objective was to create a centralised facility offering enhanced public services, including a new leisure centre with a pool, indoor climbing facilities, wellbeing support, and a library. The project aimed to refurbish the Radcliffe Market basement and the adjacent Market Chambers building, transforming them into vibrant spaces for retail, food, beverage outlets, and community events. A significant challenge was to integrate these diverse functions into a cohesive development that would serve as a catalyst for the town's regeneration.
Solution
G&T's role encompassed overseeing the planning, design, and construction phases, ensuring that the project's objectives were met within the stipulated budget and timeline. Our expertise will facilitate the seamless integration of various public services and commercial spaces, while also managing the refurbishment of existing structures like the Market Chambers and market basement. G&T's comprehensive approach will ensure that the development adheres to high standards of quality and functionality, aligning with Bury Council's vision for the town centre's transformation.
Outcome
Upon completion, the Radcliffe Civic Hub & Market will serve as a centralised destination for residents to access a variety of services and amenities. The new leisure centre, library, and wellbeing facilities are expected to enhance community engagement and promote healthier lifestyles. The refurbished Market Chambers and market basement will provide dynamic spaces for retail and events, contributing to the local economy and fostering a vibrant town centre atmosphere. G&T's involvement will be instrumental in delivering a development that not only meets the immediate needs of Radcliffe's residents but also supports the long-term regeneration and sustainability of the area.
