Challenge
Sky sought to create a state-of-the-art Innovation Centre at its Osterley campus to support its growing digital and creative teams. The objective was to design a flexible, collaborative workspace that meets the highest sustainability standards, including net zero carbon in construction and operation. The challenge was to deliver a building that fosters innovation, enhances employee wellbeing and aligns with Sky’s environmental commitments.
Solution
G&T provided Project Management and Employer's Agent services throughout the development. Collaborating with the design team led by AtkinsRéalis and structural engineers Arup, we ensured the project met its financial, programme and sustainability objectives. The building features a minimalist steel structure with exposed services, enabling flexible space planning and future adaptability. Sustainability measures include the use of low-carbon materials, offsite fabrication to reduce waste and embodied carbon, and design for disassembly principles. The structure achieved an embodied carbon of 202kg CO₂e/m², surpassing LETI 2030 targets by 10%.
Outcome
The Sky Innovation Centre provides a dynamic, sustainable workspace that supports Sky’s digital transformation and environmental goals. The building offers a variety of collaborative and individual work settings, enhanced by natural light and biophilic design elements. G&T’s expertise ensured the successful delivery of a complex project that sets new benchmarks for sustainable office design and construction.
