Stroke Unit
The project involves the full refurbishment of a 2,500m² acute stroke unit in a live hospital environment with inpatient accommodation above the working area. The works are being delivered over three phases to maintain bed capacity in the hospital.
The new unit will provide 58 beds with ancillary and support space together with a new external compound for air handling and chiller plant.
Key challenges have included the condition of the existing unit, in particular unforeseen asbestos, damp and drainage issues. This required proactive management to mitigate programme delay.
