Challenge
The existing stroke care pathway was split across multiple hospital departments, leading to delays, inefficiencies and challenges in delivering timely, specialist treatment. With stroke care being highly time-sensitive, the Trust recognised the urgent need for a consolidated unit that could house acute treatment, rehabilitation and outpatient services in one dedicated space. Delivering this transformation within a live hospital site—without disrupting ongoing services—posed a significant logistical and programme challenge.
Solution
G&T provided Project Management services, guiding the scheme from initial planning through to completion. We worked closely with clinical stakeholders, the design team and contractors to ensure that the new unit met the highest standards of healthcare design and functionality. G&T managed the programme, coordinated decision-making, and kept works on track within a constrained site. Our structured approach enabled the Trust to deliver a clinically driven facility within budget and to schedule.
Outcome
The new Stroke Unit now provides a seamless, patient-centred environment where assessment, treatment and rehabilitation can take place under one roof. Designed with both staff and patient needs in mind, the facility supports faster response times, improved recovery outcomes and more efficient service delivery. G&T’s project management expertise was key to the successful delivery of this vital healthcare facility—on time, on budget, and fully aligned with NHS stroke care objectives.
