Making A Difference This Christmas

Following G&T’s previous community-led Christmas activities and building on the foundation of our Business with Purpose commitment, everyone at G&T is getting involved with our 2023 appeal.

G&T is delighted to continue support for our national charity partner – CRASH, contributing to its Christmas card appeal, helping homelessness charities and hospices with vital construction projects. Creating places that care for people.

Through our appeal we are also supporting a number of local causes through charitable contributions to charities chosen by our office representatives, for those who need it most at Christmas.

Our local charities this Christmas include:

HESTIA

This year London’s chosen charity is Hestia. Hestia provides vital sanctuary and support for women and children who are under threat of domestic abuse and violence, providing emotional and practical support to ensure that every woman within their care has a support plan tailored to their needs. The charity runs 31 refuges across seven London boroughs.

As part of this year’s campaign, employees in G&T's London office volunteered to buy presents for the children and women spending Christmas in a Hestia shelter. Through our support we're ensuring every child and woman has something to open on Christmas day.

Pendleside

Pendleside Hospice supports patients and their families in the local Burnley and Pendle communities where lives are affected by advancing long-term and life-limiting illnesses. Patients come to Pendleside Hospice for therapies and counselling, respite care, pain management and, when the time comes, for specialist palliative and end of life care.

The charity also offers bereavement support for families and children who have lost loved ones both at the Hospice or elsewhere.

"The generous donation to our Christmas Appeal will enable additional and much-needed complementary therapy and support groups to be set-up and work towards matching the increased demand we are experiencing for our services. We are extremely grateful for the donation and would like to thank all the staff at Gardiner & Theobald LLP for your support and wish you all a very happy Christmas and peaceful New Year."

Glasgow's Spirit of Christmas

Since 2014 a community of members, donors and supporters have run Glasgow’s Spirit of Christmas campaign, giving Christmas gifts to 102,700 local children. The annual campaign partners with over 100 registered charities, the Health and Social Care Partnership, councils, local community projects and other community groups.

Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity

Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity raises vital funds to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping in Greater Manchester. Through events, community fundraisers, individual givers and corporate partners, they raise urgently needed funds that make a meaningful change.

The Marmalade Trust

The Marmalade Trust is a Bristol-based charity dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and empowering people to make connections. Its longest running project is the annual ‘Christmas Cheer’ lunch, bringing companionship to older and vulnerable people who would otherwise be spending Christmas Day alone.

Pathways4All

Pathways 4 All is a lifeline to many parents who struggle to take their children to mainstream play spaces due to physical barriers and poor social attitudes in the wider community. Over 2,000 families have accessed the centre in the last year, as well as special needs schools, social services nurses and charities that support disabled children who use the centre to provide short breaks, respite and weekly outings.

The building, which was an old disused isolation hospital, is now a modern, wonderful, vibrant, busy, fun-filled centre fully adapted to meet the needs of our children with any disability or additional need aged 0-25.

"We don’t receive any statutory funding or financial support from the local authority so your support will make a huge difference to the lives of disabled children and their families. Organisations like yours play a big part in the success of this Centre, which is the only one of its kind in the North East."

Social Bite

Social Bite provides homes, jobs, food and support to empower people to transform their own lives. They challenge the status quo, organise high profile events to shine a light on the homelessness issue, drive government policy change on homelessness (creating Scotland’s Housing First programme) and built The Social Bite Village in Edinburgh with wraparound support services to create lasting change.

Their latest project involves creating a residential recovery facility for vulnerable people struggling with addiction in Dundee. All efforts are focused on helping break the cycle of homelessness.
