Qubix 4 Praha
QUBIX 4 PRAHA has achieved a LEED “Platinum” rating, the highest existing global rating for energy efficient buildings. It is the first redevelopment project in the Czech Republic to be awarded this rating. Only 6% of all LEED projects have achieved the “Platinum” rating.
G&T was appointed to manage the LEED certification process ensuring compliance with the rating system, helping to develop the LEED submissions and submitting the final documentation to the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
The building is projected to use 40% less energy than the ASHRAE 90.1-2007 benchmark thanks to the photovoltaic cells on the roof, thicker wall insulation layers, energy efficient lighting with dimmers and a highly efficient heating and air conditioning system with heat recuperation. Over 86% of the original building’s walls, floors and roof areas were re-used and the project team was able to divert 89% of the project’s construction waste from being landfilled.
Drinking water savings are expected to be around 50% and toilets are flushed with rainwater collected from the roofs and stored in two tanks originally used for storing heating oil.
