The Taf Ely learning campus is being developed at the Coleg Morgannwg High Education facility in the Rhondda Valley in South Wales. Covering a total area of 20,046m², the campus will have a staff and student population of over 3,000.

We were asked to carry out whole life cost analysis throughout the design process, from Stage B to financial close. Capital, lifecycle replacement, facilities management and utility cost estimations were all used to build up whole life costs to enable the client to develop future finance strategies. Whole life cost analysis on alternative heat source options and roofing insulation was carried out in support of BREEAM accreditation, with whole life cost savings of £3.1m identified.
