Crossrail is to be a major new railway link connecting central London, the City and Canary Wharf to Heathrow and Maidenhead in the West and Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the East. Over recent years there have been a number of different routes proposed for Crossrail leading to the current scheme that received Royal Assent in July 2008.
Crossrail will require twin tunnels to be bored directly under London that will link several major underground stations including Paddington, Tottenham Court Road and Farringdon. New portals will also be required to link the new tunnels with the surface works. Each of the central stations will themselves require complex civil engineering works.
We managed the commercial and programme activities on behalf of the client team for all activities required for both the Hybrid Bill and subsequent Royal Assent. Our initial appointment was as Managing Consultant, where we provided commercial, risk, programme. This progressed to include business case and procurement advice as the scheme now moves into the delivery phase. We have also provided feasibility cost and budget advice for the future planned Line 2 scheme.
